‘Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but rather in being someone for the client’

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Therapy will take place in a safe non-judgemental environment.  During our sessions we will work together in a confidential relationship to help you come to a clearer understanding of your difficulties. We will identify changes that you might like to make and I will support you as you put them into practice.

When working with young people I aim to enable them to talk about the problems they are facing.  It is an opportunity to be heard and accepted and to explore and understand feelings, thought and situations which may be confusing.

Although the terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably there are several differences - the most notable of which is that counselling is shorter-term and often concentrates on a specific issue. Psychotherapy is a gentle and supportive process which allows access to deeper levels of awareness, can facilitate healing and encourages personal growth. It is also open-ended because of the need for longer term support.

Therapy is more likely to work for you if you feel at ease with your counsellor so finding the right person is important.  Please do get in touch with me so we can talk about what you  need and want from counselling or psychotherapy.
